Apollo Herbs’ Breathe Ease
contains a blend of seven herbs that were combined together to
create a mildly stimulating formula that is anti-spasmodic, expectorant,
dilates the bronchioles and soothes inflamed tissues of the respiratory
tract.
Green Tea
is a good source of the purine alkaloids
caffeine and theophylline. Theophylline, prepared as a prescription
drug, is a smooth muscle relaxant for bronchial asthma and is also a
diuretic. It helps stop bronchial spasms and is bronchio-dilating,
opening constricted bronchial passages.
Anise Seed
Anise seeds were used by the Greeks for asthma and other respiratory
ailments. They contain essential oils, including anethole and
anisaldehyde, as well as
a-pinene
and creosol, which help to loosen bronchial secretions. Anise is
reported to be antispasmodic and bronchiodilating.
Angelica Root Angelica
is a useful expectorant for coughs, bronchitis, colds, fevers & asthma.
It also possesses anti-spasmodic and carminative actions. Its active
constituents are its essential oils.
Licorice Root has mild
demulcent properties that soothes the throat and is known for its sweet
taste which is fifty times sweeter than sugar. Licorice is
contra-indicated for hypertension and edema.
Ginger Root
Ginger root is a common cold treatment. It contains several
sesquiterpenes with anti-viral properties, particularly to rhinoviruses,
settles the stomach, reduces fever, pain & suppresses coughs.
Mullein Leaves
Mullein is a specific for respiratory inflammation due to its demulcent
& expectorant properties, attributed to its mucopolysaccharide and
flavonoid content.
Coltsfoot Leaves have
demulcent & expectorant activities. Coltsfoot’s name Tussilago
comes from Latin, meaning "chase away coughs". It stimulates the
microscopic cilia that move mucus out of the air passages. It also
suppresses production of platelet-activating factor, a protein in blood
that plays a role in triggering bronchial spasms, the narrowing of air
passages that causes asthma symptoms. |
