its name implies, Cramp bark is an effective herb for treating painful

antispasmodic, sedative and astringent properties. Among its
constituents are arbutin, a phenolic glycoside, as well as coumarins,
tannins and resin.
Black Cohash Root

estrogenic effect on women, treating nervous conditions associated with
both menstruation & menopause. It is also known for its
anti-inflammatory and anti-spasmodic properties, which attributes to its
use in treating menstrual cramps and lassociated lower back pains.. It
contains isoflavones, actein, & cimifugoside.
Pennyroyal Leaves A strongly
aromatic member of the mint family, Pennyroyal has a long tradition of
use as a treatment for menstrual complaints as well as a repellant of
fleas, who hate its strong aroma. It is a powerful stimulant of the
uterine muscles and therefore encourages menstruation. Pennyroyal should
never be taken during pregnancy or if menstrual bleeding is heavy. It
contains a volatile oil which consists of pulegone, isopulegone, menthol
and other terpenoid compounds. It also contains tannins and bitter
principles.
Ginger Root
An herb of many uses, ginger is rich in
volatile oils, including zingiberene, curcumene, and a group of
compounds known as gingerols, which impart its pungent flavor.. It is a
stimulant of peripheral circulation and is often taken for menstrual
cramps. It also carminative in action (settles upset stomach) and
diaphoretic (reduces fevers by promoting perspiration).
