Apollo Herbs’
Stomach Ease contains the following ten herbs that were combined
together:
Peppermint
possesses digestive, carminative, diaphoretic & antispasmodic
properties, in addition to being a mild stimulant. It relieves nausea,
vomiting, flatulence, and colic. It has a volatile oil which contains
menthol.
Ginger Root
has carminative properties, settling the stomach. It is used for cramps,
flatulence, colic, dyspepsia, and motion sickness. It contains volatile
oil & also several sesquiterpenes with anti-viral properties.
Chamomile
is renowned for its carminative, relaxing, sedative, anti-inflammatory,
anti-spasmodic, antiseptic & wound-healing properties. It is used for
indigestion, gastritis, flatulence & gas cramps. It contains a volatile
oil consisting of a blue pigment, chamazulene; it also contains
mucilage, coumarins, & flavonoids.
Marshmallow Root
is known for its demulcent properties due to its content of muco-polysaccharides,
often referred to as mucilage. It has anti-tussive properties as well.
Marshmallow, like most demulcents, are very soothing to inflamed mucus
membrane linings of the digestive tract, especially for gastritis and
ulcers.
Meadowsweet
acts to soothe mucus membrane of the digestive tract, reducing acidity,
treating heartburn, gastritis, ulcers, nausea & indigestion. It contains
salicylic acid derivatives, flavonol glycosides & tannins.
Cardamom
is closely related to ginger. It is a warming digestive & appetite
stimulant with anti-spasmodic, carminative actions. It is used for
indigestion, gas, & cramps. It contains a volatile oil and is highly
aromatic.
Coriander
is famed as a cooking spice, but is also valuable for treating
flatulence, colic, bloating, and cramps. It is carminative,
anti-spasmodic and stimulates the appetite. It contains volatile oil,
flavonoids & coumarins.
Fennel
relieves nausea, cramps & flatulence, stimulates appetite & digestion,
and tastes good, similar to anise. It also stimulates mothers’ milk. It
contains a volatile oil of anethole & fenchone, also flavonoids &
coumarins.
Licorice Root
has a long history of use in treating gastritis, peptic ulcers, &
abdominal colic. It is fifty times sweeter than sugar & contains
glycyrrhizin, saponins, flavonoids, bitters, comarins, & volatile oil.
Licorice has estrogenic properties & is contraindicated for people with
hypertension, congestive heart failure, or edema.
Catnip
Not just for cats, this mint species contains iridoids, tannins &
volatile oil. It is settling to the stomach, treating flatulence,
indigestion & colic, as well as treating headache-related digestive
troubles and fevers.
